Pacifica Online

Pacifica Online is a free-to-play MMORPG developed by Filipino Independent video game development team Nexus Pixels using Open source software. The game was influenced by Philippine culture including some of it's traditional games like Habulan tulungan and Agawan base, and also includes some Filipino foods and equipment.
It is available as a web browser game via Adobe Flash using Facebook account. Pacifica Online is one of few games developed in the Philippines and have been featured in the television program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho of GMA Network, television program Homepage of Net25 and on the September issue of K-Zone magazine. The term Pacifica is taken from the name of nearby ocean of the developer's country.
Gameplay
Like typical MMORPGs, players will choose among 4 classes (Swordsman, Waif, Archer and Deacon), each having it's own abilities unique from each other. The player can then take quests and advance their abilities through leveling by defeating monsters. A player can go through class rank upgrade upon reaching level 50, wherein they will be pronounced as Knight, Bandit, Ranger and Cleric after the process which would open more skills available to the player. Although the developer's have confirmed the announced of the 3rd class rank upgrade around August 2011, there are no specified dates for this yet.
Mini-games
While few players conceive the traditional game Habulan tulungan and Agawan base in Pacifica as ironic, these games have been part of the game's questing and is one of the activities a player usually engages in an hourly scheduled interval event, also serving as a break-time habit for some.
Valzeon Invasion is an organized PVP (Player versus Player) mini-game available to 2nd class rank players that designates participants to either two of the competing team. Each team would have a designated base on which their Orb resides. The team who have destroyed opponents' Orb will be rewarded in a form of tokens which can be used for redeeming some of the equipment for the higher level character.
Development
The game uses Open Source Software in it's development since May 2010 when the group was formed. The game was designed by Galileo Lajara. He also wrote the server in while the game client was written in HaXe by Donnie Ray Gianchand. The game is still in beta and made several major changes including it's User interface and Game mechanics.
Graphics
The characters were designed, modeled and animated in Blender 3D by Jeremiah Torrevillas. These 3D models are rendered in to 2D for use in the game. The game is entirely 2D although Nexus Pixels have shown interest for possible 3D migration by conducting a survey in September 2011 because of the recent Adobe Flash Player 11 new native 3D capability. The digital arts and other concept arts were drawn in GIMP by Justine Aaron Torrevillas.
Music
The original soundtrack of the game was composed in LMMS by Donnie Ray Gianchand. As of September 2011 the game has more than 70 original tracks among of these tracks was several rearrangements and remixes of three main soundtracks of the game Afterwar, One Heart, Before I Fade Away.
