Dark Oberon

Dark Oberon is an open source real-time strategy game released under the GPL. The graphics were created using clay animation techniques. The pre-released game is missing a complete AI. Multiplaying over the internet or lan is possible, though the official site only offers maps for two players, maps for more players have been created by other players. Most of the games map data is stored in customizeable XML.
Dark Oberon was originally developed by a group of students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague
The game was considered as among the twenty best Open Source games by the computer magazine CHIP as stated on their German online version "Chip online de" The game is rated 4 stars (out of 5) on Linux Game Tome.
Although direct development has stalled since 2006, several versions for portable software suites have been made. As the original game can be considered rather portable it was an early candidate for such platforms and these versions usually just take care of the correct integration into the portable menu structure and folder structure on the portable device. Versions where built for example for PortableApps, Framakey and Lupo Pensuite.
