Omar Spence

Omar Spence (b. 1968) is an evangelical Christian rock musician. As of December, 2007, he is the full-time worship director at Elevation, a ministry associated with the Santa Cruz Bible Church and pastored by Chuckk Gerwig. One element of this ministry is that of "biker Christians", encouraging those who favour tattoos and motorcycles.

Omar Spence is also a son of Skip Spence (d. 1999) of the band Moby Grape, and has sung with Moby Grape on occasion in place of his late father. One of his more recent appearances with Moby Grape was at the 2007 40th Anniversary "Summer of Love" Reunion. He also is the legal representative of his late father's estate with respect to litigation concerning ownership of the Moby Grape band name and related songwriting royalties.

In June, 2008, a Skip Spence Tribute Concert was held in Santa Cruz. The concert was organized by Omar Spence, who sang his father's songs, backed by the Santa Cruz White Album Ensemble. This group features Dale Ockerman and Tiran Porter, both formerly of the Doobie Brothers, and both of whom have played with various members of Moby Grape in several bands over the past three decades. Keith Graves of Quicksilver Messenger Service played drums. Moby Grape's Peter Lewis joined the group onstage for the finale.
