The Pointy Shoe Factory

The Pointy Shoe Factory was an American experimental rock band formed in Fort Worth, Texas in 2003. It was founded by Daron Beck, past contributor of local bands, YETI and Rock Lottery 10. The band gained notable attention when three of their songs had been included in the Dragon Ball Z feature film, Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan. After an being signed to The Clandestine Project, the ensemble had soon released their debut studio album, . The band broke up in late 2004. A couple years later, Beck had formed another band to carry on the influence of The Pointy Shoe Factory, The Great Tyrant, with past YETI members, Tommy Atkins and Jon Teague.
Formation and Demos
It is somewhat unrevealed of how The Pointy Shoe Factory had been formed. But, as far as it is revealed, Daron Beck, a past contributor of other local bands, YETI and Rock Lottery 10, had formed the ensemble with him on lead vocals and other various instruments and bassist and guitarist, Kyle Cheathem and drummer, (who had also done background screams and whispers in the band), Tyler Walker. The musical group had picked up violists and violinists Amanda S. and Julie 'Doll' Carpenter. For additional guitars, the band got various other musicians for the roll. Also, saxophonists were necessary. The group had soon been signed to indie record label, The Clandestine Project. There was recorded three demos, (which were unreleased). One of the demos, The Horror Train, is noted to be the only live video on the internet.
The Unforgettable Sound Of The Pointy Shoe Factory and Unreleased Tracks
Somewhere in the summer of 2003, after the demos, The Unforgettable Sound Of The Pointy Shoe Factory was released under The Clandestine Project. The fourth track on the album, Sycamore Trees, was a more melancholic and violin-oriented cover for Angelo Badalamenti's song for Twin Peaks. Also, the eighth and last track was a more lively version of In Dreams, a single by singer Roy Orbison. This album is both the debut and last of The Pointy Shoe Factory. It is noted that the CD is very difficult to find in regular music stores and is also hard to order on the internet. Although, it can be found on only two safe websites, theclandestineproject.com and amazon.com. The second track, Bump In The Night, was recorded under Synthettiquette digital sound effect and musical company.
Promotional Films
In August 26, 2003, Dragon Ball Z feature movie was released with many bands as added music to the film, including three songs from the album of The Pointy Shoe Factory, such as, Bump In The Night, On Your Knees, and The Dub Of The Dead.
Disbanding and Further Influences
After recording six more unreleased songs, the band wanted to go their separate ways, so they had broken up in late 2004, after playing many local Texas concerts. A few years later, after helping out some other local ensembles, Beck had formed The Great Tyrant, which was formed by old friends from YETI, drummer Jon Teague and bassist Tommy Atkins. The new band had taken many influences from The Pointy Shoe Factory and continues the experimental and goth rock evolution that the previous band had created.
