Oliver Konteh

Oliver Konteh (born March 29, 1979 in Columbus, Ohio) is an American soccer defender who was a defender in the French 2nd Division Ligue 2.
Youth
Born in Columbus, Ohio to parents who had immigrated from Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo
Konteh learned to play soccer in the Sharonville Youth Soccer League. His career began to grow as a young boy playing for Adidas Premier and winning many league championships. He ended his career playing with Club Ohio/Dynamo, where Oliver flourished under coaches, Mike Barry and Mike Thomas, Konteh was also coached by Seymour Allen and Maziya Chete. Konteh played high school soccer at Westerville South High School. He then played college soccer at the University of Connecticut for a year and a half as a center forward and outside midfield before transferring to University of Bridgeport in 1999. At Bridgeport, he switched to defense after the 2000 season. During the collegiate off season, Konteh played for the Westchester Flames, Dayton Gemini of the fourth division Premier Development League as well as the Bridgeport Italians of the amateur USASA. Konteh finished his college education in 2003 at the University of Toledo.
Professional
Upon graduation Oliver was offered a contract to play for FC Nantes in the French Ligue 2. Konteh played at Nantes for four months until he was loaned to Paris FC in the French Championnat National. At Paris F.C. Konteh was there for approximately two and a half months until suffering a season ending injury. After the season Konteh returned to FC Nantes,where his rights were then picked up by St. Etienne but a month later was waived and he returned to the U.S. where he finished the 2004 season with the Toledo Slayers of the PDL. Konteh also played two games of the 2005 season with Toledo
Coaching career
In 2006, Konteh became an assistant coach at Pacesetter Soccer Club.
