Joseph Posillico

Joseph Posillico (born 9/27/1990 in Mineola N.Y.) Is an Italian-American Professional soccer player who currently plays for Alba Sannio in the Eccellenza Campania A division in Southern Italy as a right or left midfielder/defender.
Early Life - Grew up in East Meadow New York to Italian immigrants from Durazzano (BN) from southern Italy. Joe the second of three children grew a love for soccer at an early age. Joe quickly became a top player at his hometown club East Meadow. Joe went on to represent many other youth team throughout New York including HBC,BW Gottschee, FC Westchester, Brooklyn Knights, Albertson, Long Island Select and New York ODP south, Joe’s youth career was successful with many league and state titles. Joe attended East Meadow High School for four years but only played soccer for one in his senior year. In his one year for East Meadow High School Joe won All State honors scoring 9 goals.
Tryout with Aston Villa - Joe always had ambitions to play professional soccer and when he was 17 during his senior year of high school he got a one week tryout with Aston Villa. He was noticed while playing in a youth tournament in Wales U.K. with a team from New York. Joe played very good catching the eye of other English Premier League teams Reading F.C. and Blackburn Rovers. Joe was supposed to leave a year early during his junior year in high school but suffered a knee injury which kept him out for 5 months. So he left a year later but only Aston Villa was willing to give him a tryout. Even though he played well he didn't get offered to sign with the team.
Torneo di Viareggio and Alba Sannio - After coming home from England Joe was looking to go back and tryout with lower division teams in England. After waiting Joe was asked to play in the Viareggio Tournament in Italy with the New York Stars which is considered the best under 20 tournament in the world. Joe who was captain of the team impressed during the tournament and was asked to join many teams in the Eccellenza divisions in Italy of the Campania and Lazio regions. Joe choose to play for Alba Sannio even though they offered less money than the other teams they played in Joe's parents home town in Durazzano Italy which Joe stated was the major chocie in his decision.
Alba Sannio and Westchester Flames - Joe signed with Alba Sannio of the Eccellenza Campania A division for the last 3 months of the season. He made 3 appearances for the under 20 team getting 3 goals and 2 assist. With the first team he made 2 appearances getting 1 assist. He was used as an unused sub on another 5 games in the season. The team finished 2nd in the league qualify for the playoffs the first game ended with 1-1 tie against Arzanses. A tie was all they need to go to the region final because Alba was the higher ranked team and only a loss would have eliminated them. In the region final Alba played Nola who finished 3rd one point behind Alba in the season the game ended in a 2-0 loss for Alba knocking them out of the playoffs. Joe was an unused sub in both playoff games. On his return home to New York he joined the Westchester Flames of the USL Premier Development League in America. He played the last 7 games of the season. Prior to joining the team they where sitting last in the table but with some help from Joe and another 5 Players who joined the team around the same time saw the team climb to a respectable mid table finish.
Suffolk and return to Alba - The staff of Alba weren't sure of the future of the team for the 2009-2010 season because of the financial state of the team. So Joe went to school attending Suffolk County Community College where he played soccer. He captained the team who fished the season with 17 wins, 2 ties, 0 losses, and were ranked number 1 in the country for their division. They went to the regional final where they lost to Nassau in the finals 3-0. Shortly after the Suffolk season ended in the November Joe was asked to go back to Italy and play for Alba for the last 6 months. So Joe withdrew from school and went to Italy to play for Alba again. On his first game of the 2009-2010 season he scored a wonderful side volley goal in a 1-1 tie against Stasia. But it was his second goal which was more important when he tied the game against Gladiator, The game ended 1-1 and Joes headed goal meant the team was safe from relegation. Joe also helped the under 20s who finished 2nd in the season and qualified for the playoffs. Joe scored a total of 8 goals in 8 games for the under 20s. The first game of the playoffs for the under 20s came against Nola. Alba played away the game ended in a 2-1 loss. Joe ended the 2009-2010 season on a high in Italy and with the first team establishing himself as a fan favorite and a key starting player ending the season with 15 games and 2 goals. Joe returned to New York after a good season and to stay in shape for his return to Italy for the 2010-2011 season with Alba in August he sign with the Westchester Flames again. Joe played the last 6 game for the Flames for the 2010 season.
