Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program

Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program, Inc. is a state licensed outpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program located in Flemington, New Jersey. Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program also provides prevention education throughout Hunterdon County, and operates as the Hunterdon County Intoxicated Driver's Resource Center. Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program is a registered charity in the State of New Jersey.
Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program's first office opened in Lambertville, New Jersey in 1977 when concerned Lambertville civic leaders pushed to establish a substance abuse treatment center after Lambertville and surrounding towns suffered 12 drug-related deaths in the early 1970s. A drug treatment agency called NARCO opened a Lambertville branch in 1977, which was called Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program. By 1981 Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program separated from NARCO and was incorporated as an independent treatment and prevention agency serving Hunterdon County and surrounding areas under a local Board of Directors. As their services expanded, so did area support and interest. In 1984, having outgrown their original office space in Lambertville, they moved to their current location on 8 Main Street in Flemington. In 1998, the building Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program occupied experienced a fire, forcing them to relocate temporarily. Starting in 2003, they have expanded the services they provide to the community and, at capacity, can serve 140 active clients.
Their mission is states that they will serve all Hunterdon County residents regardless of their ability to pay. This is done through a grant from the State of New Jersey, a grant from the County of Hunterdon, and a grant from the United Way of Hunterdon County. They also utilize fundraising, foundation monies, and 3rd party reimbursements. Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program is a , not for profit corporation.
