Oklahoma Storm Team

Oklahoma Storm Team (OKST) is a non-profit internet weather station that provides forecasts for Tulsa and Oklahoma City via e-mail. OKST provides severe weather coverage as needed.

History

OKST was founded in 1999 by David Moran and Kari Kralik. The operations began with providing forecasts for Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and the Oklahoma Panhandle. Due to personnel changes, the Panhandle forecasts were dropped (though plans are in progress to bring service to the Panhandle back in late 2007.

In 2001, OKST affiliated with Oklahoma First Alert Center (later Northeast Oklahoma News Center). OKST was responsible for producing forecasts for these entities. Due to irreconcilable differences, OKST ended the affiliation with OFAC in 2002.

In 2002, David Moran resigned as Chief Meteorologist to become the Weekend Meteorologist. Later in late 2003, David resumed the position of Chief Meteorologist. During his time as Weekend Meteorologist, he was also part of the management staff of OKST.

Oklahoma Storm Team was renamed Oklahoma Internet Weather Center in April 2007.

Operations

OKST currently provides forecasts for Oklahoma City and Tulsa as well as severe weather information as conditions warrant.
