Sean Donnelly (also known as MC NxtGen) is a British rapper who became a YouTube sensation in March 2011 with a rap criticising the British Health Minister's plans Andrew Lansley to privatise the National Health System, NHS. Donnelly is from Loughborough and works as a binman by day. He and his girlfriend, who is an occupational therapist and member of the Health Worker's Union, Unison, contacted the union with the idea to produce the video in March 2011. The union liked the idea and funded the video. Donnelly started MC-ing when he was 11 or 12 and was inspired by American rapper Eminem. "It was just the funniness and this complete truth at the same time" he said. The Detroit rapper's influence might be detected in the video to Andrew Lansley - which was viewed on YouTube more than 30,000 times in 24 hours - in which he enlists shoppers in his home town to wave placards, wear David Cameron and Nick Clegg masks and mouth "Tosser!" and "greedy!" at the camera at opposite points in the song. In an interview to the British NGO Right to Work Donnelly said "“I wrote the Andrew Lansley Rap as it was something I was aware about in the news, and I also have close family and friends that either work for the NHS or are going to be in the future who were worried about the cuts and privatisation”.
