Nigel Botterill

Nigel Botterill (born January 1966) is a British entrepreneur, marketer, author, speaker and business mentor. He is founder and chief executive of a number of businesses including the UK's fastest growing franchise, thebestof and most notably, the Entrepreneurs Circle.
Nigel Botterill left a successful corporate career to self-employment in 2003. Since then he has founded nine separate businesses in both the B2C and B2B markets.
In 2010 Nigel Botterill launched the Entrepreneurs Circle the UK's largest membership organisation dedicated to helping businesses to grow and in February 2011, he published his first business book The Botty Rules, which reached number two in the Sunday Telegraph best-sellers list.
Early Life
Nigel Botterill was born in January 1966 in Leeds, United Kingdom. His father was a police officer and his mother worked as a switchboard operator.
Corporate Career
Nigel Botterill began his working life at Barclays Bank in 1982 at the age of 16. His Barclays career lasted for 18 years and saw Botterill responsible for building UK call centres and setting up Internet Banking Services.
In 2000 NIgel Botterill took the role of Marketing Director at Singlepoint (part of the Phones4U empire) working alongside John Caudwell. He began working with another entrepreneur, Hamish Ogston in late 2001 as Managing Director of Card Protection Plan.
Business Ventures
N5 Ltd.
In 2003 Nigel Botterill left the corporate world. Later in the same year, he set up his own marketing consultancy, N5 Ltd.
MyMag
At the same time as he was launching N5 Ltd, Nigel Botterill’s wife Sue set up a local community magazine with paid-for ads from local businesses and was soon generating a sizeable income each month whilst looking after the couple’s children. The success of Mrs Botterill's magazine business led to Nigel Botterill firing all his consultancy clients and shifting his focus on to a new business called MyMag helping other people accomplish what his wife had done. The 'business in a box' was launched from Nigel's spare bedroom in June 2004.
thebestof
In 2005, with the growing success of MyMag, Nigel Botterill set up thebestof which was one of the very first online business directories and became the fastest UK franchise ever to get to 200 franchisees. This transition was recognised by the award for Innovative Company of the Year which was awarded to Nigel at the Fast Growth Business Awards in 2008. thebestof also ranked No. 3 in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 in 2007 and won the award for Best e-company of the Year at the Sharp Edge Awards presented by Duncan Bannatyne.
Raring2Go
Nigel Botterill launched Raring2Go in April 2006. A local magazine which was a guide on what to do and where to go with your children. They printed over 4 million magazines a year and sold the business in December 2008.
MyLittleWrapper
My Little Wrapper was a personalized chocolate wrapper business launched in February 2008. It generated over a million pounds of turnover in its first year.
Explosive Marketing
Explosive Marketing was launched in January 2009 as a marketing service for restaurants. It was sold a few years later.
MySMB
Nigel Botterill and his team launched MySMB in June 2009. It was a package which taught people how to become social media managers for other businesses.
Agency
In 2017 Nigel Botterill and his team recognised the clear and substantial desire of members of the Entrepreneurs Circle to have their marketing 'done-for-them' and so Botterill launched his own marketing agency; LUDIFY (Let Us Do It For You).
Books
In February 2011, Nigel Botterill published his first business book The Botty Rules which became a Sunday Telegraph best-seller.
Awards
In addition to the awards his business’ have won, Botterill has also picked up several accolades for his contributions to the business world. He won the BT Essence of the Entrepreneur Award and was also Highly Commended at the National Business Awards in the Entrepreneur of the Year category in 2007 and again a finalist in 2012. Botterill was also the first ever non-American (and two time winner) to pick up the GKIC Marketer of the Year award.
Personal Life
Botterill lives in Solihull, United Kingdom with his wife and four children.
He is an avid Leeds United fan, amateur golfer and has seen the musical production of Les Misérables 37 times.
