Nicole Levin

Nicole Levin (born 1970, Johannesburg in South Africa) writes picture books, educational books, fiction and non-fiction for children from ages three to fourteen.
Her first two picture books, published in 2008 by Shuter and Shooter, were Mandi and the Moonstones, a tale about the moon falling out of the sky and the efforts of the villagers to put it back, and Out of the Box, a story about a boy name George who is challenged to find a box to fit into and realises that he doesn't need to conform.
George appears in a further three books published in 2009, being The Art of Is-ing, where George stops "doing" and just "is", Sounds from the Inside Out, where George finds his own inner voice, and In, Out and Around the World, where George explores perspective. The Art of Is-ing was placed on childrens' book critic Jay Heale's top four favourite picture books of 2009.
She has also written eleven fiction and non-fiction education books which form part of the Rainbow Readers series published by Cambridge University Press (South Africa) in 2009.
Nicole has an honours degree in Drama and a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama from the University of Cape Town, and a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from the University of New South Wales, Australia. She lives in Cape Town, South Africa.
