Dr Louise Porter is an Australian Child Psychologist with 30 years' experience. She has worked in private practice, consulting with parents and practitioners about children's development, behaviour, and social or emotional challenges. Louise Porter started out working in mainstream and disability agencies. Dr Porter then went on to lecture at Flinders University in South Australia for 13 years. She spends time each year traveling around the world presenting Keynote addresses, talking to school and parents about children behaviours. In her extensive career she has written 18 books, contributed chapters in 4 books and written 9 journal articles and has written and presented 2 DVDs. About Dr Louise Porter grew up in New Zealand. Dr Porter moved to Adelaide, Australia in 1981 and in 2009 moved to Brisbane, Australia. She lives with her Husband and Daughter. Qualifications Doctor of Philosophy(University of South Australia 2000). The research was a qualitative study of caregivers’ behaviour management practices with young children. Master of Gifted Education(Flinders University 1999). Master of Arts (Hons.)in Psychology (University of Canterbury 1981). Graduate Diploma in Education(University of Adelaide 1987). This qualified Dr Porter as a secondary teacher. Certificate in Alcohol Counselling(University of Canterbury 1981). Her thesis examined the effectiveness of an alcohol education program for drivers with multiple drink-driving convictions. Bachelor of Arts (University of Canterbury 1980) with a double major in Education and Psychology. Bachelor of International Studies (Flinders University 2010)with majors in Politics and International Relations. From 1982 to 1984 Dr Porter completed a family therapy training course under the direction of Malcolm Robinson and Dr Kerry Callaghan. This course was subsequently accredited at graduate level and offered in conjunction with the University of South Australia.
