Nicola Montorsi is the Head of communications and change management for BP's R&M Business Service Centres, a project to integrate refining and marketing's finance, customer service and procurement services into 5 regional centres (Chicago/Americas - Budapest/Europe - Kuala Lumpur/Asia - Cape Town/Africa - Melbourne/Australasia). In 2009 Nicola has replicated his 2007's IVCA award, this time in the Interactive Media category with "the Atlantis Interactive Journey". (IVCA is the International Visual Communication Association, the most prestigious award for business communication, known as the Oscar of corporate videos). BACKGROUND Until end-2008 Nicola has been based in Houston, TX-USA as BP's Director of Public Affairs for the Gulf of Mexico Offshore business. He had lead public affairs and served as press spokesperson for the Gulf of Mexico and coastal States. He covered external affairs for the startup of world’s largest platforms Atlantis (2007) and Thunder Horse (2008), along with being the approval authority of written public material published and head of coastal community programmes and Crisis Information Officer, covering risk and issue management for the offshore business. Between 2003 and 2006 Nicola has worked in Brussels as Adviser European Government Affairs for BP Europe. There he held reputation management for 2 regional major projects: the TNK-BP Joint Venture in Russia, and the BTC pipeline construction in the Caspian. He has been also involved in legislation advocacy for Maritime issues, Corporate Social Responsibility and Social issues. He held accountability for EU NGOs, issues and internal policy development. Before that he was Communications and Government Public Affairs Manager for BP Italy, based in Milan. Since 1998 to 2000 he has worked for the Italian Red Cross at the International Affairs Department, and as Press Officer for Villa Maraini Foundation, one of the main anti-drugs and HIV treatment Red Cross Centers in Europe. For a number of years he has been Dr. Massimo Barra’s speech writer, President-designate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent. He also served as a Board Member, Trustee and International Representative of CISV (Children’s International Summer Villages), a Unesco youth-NGO working with children on multicultural education. And worked for Mondimpresa - Confindustria (Italian CBI) as Country Analysis Coordinator (NAFTA & EFTA countries). Nicola holds a degree in Economics and Business Adiminsitration by the University of Rome "La Sapienza", and a postgraduate Master in Public Relations and Marketing from the Francesco Fattorello Institute of Rome.
