Nicolás Atanes

Nicolás Atanes Santos is a Spanish mathematical activist trying to raise awareness about the importance of math. He organized an action in February 2020 to raise the awareness of the importance of mathematics in the streets of Pamplona, Spain.
Biography
At the age of 16, Atanes started a social movement in February 2020 called Virus Matemático. The president of the Zamora Provincial Council expressed support for the initiative.
When Spain came out of COVID-19 lockdown, Atanes traveled to Madrid to meet with the education counselor of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ossorio. Atanes organized on December 6 a math games initiative, dubbed the "December Action". The initiative was online due to the pandemic, and about 500 people attended the event.
