Wilson Villa

Wilson Marcelo Villa Gonzáles (Ibarra, 1963 - Quito, 23 March 2020) was an Ecuadorian singer and composer.
Biography
Villa was born in Ibarra, Imbabura Province, Ecuador.
He founded several groups such as Villamarka, Villamanta, Raíces y Herencias. With his band he released two albums of 12 songs each, entitled Sin límites and Hasta el final.<ref name=":2" />
Their last performance was held in March 2020, at the Alpachaca Coliseum during the festivities in Urcuquí and in Quito.<ref name=":2" />
Death
Villa was the second of the first four confirmed COVID-19 patients in Imbabura, and it was believed that he contracted it when he traveled to Quito, to see a relative arriving from Spain.<ref name=":0" /> He was transferred to the Pablo Arturo Suárez hospital in the capital in serious condition, where he died at the age of 57, on March 23, 2020 due to complications caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, becoming the first imbaburean to lose his life due to the pandemic and one of the first victims in all of Ecuador.<ref name":0" /><ref name":1" /><ref name=":2" />
