Nick Tolhurst

Nick Tolhurst (born 28 June 1968) is a British academic and commentator in the fields of corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, globalisation and governance. His work includes the first dictionary of CSR, The A to Z of Corporate Social Responsibility, which he edited together with Dirk Matten and Wayne Visser. Tolhurst is current visiting professor at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Mexico, and lecturer at the Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin.
Biography
Tolhurst was born on 28 June 1968 in the town of Crawley in West Sussex. After completing his studies in London and at the University of Osnabrück he joined the European Commission as a Stagiare at DGII. He is the nephew of The Cure founder Lol Tolhurst and a distant relative of the composer George Tolhurst.
Between 2007 and 2010, Tolhurst led the Institute for Corporate Culture Affairs. From 2009 he has been a member of the board of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, Germany, leading courses on CSR and globalisation. He is also on the local board of the British German Chamber of Commerce in Frankfurt. In 2011 he founded the African Fair Tourism and Trade Organisation (AFTTO), a non-profit organisation aiming to promote sustainable tourism in Africa.
Tolhurst is a well known commentator on CSR and globalisation in the English and German media. He has also written and edited works on industrial social themes.
