Nicholas Winkler

Nicholas "Nick" Winkler (born February 16, 1983) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party. He is married to Melinda Winkler, and is a candidate for the office of Mayor of Downingtown, PA.
Early Life
Nick was born on February 16, 1983 in West Chester, PA. He was born to Walter and Natalie Winkler and is the youngest of 5 children. His father, Walter, worked for Lockheed Martin, first as an analyst and ultimately as Vice President. Natalie spent her days tending to their home and raising their family. Nick attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as a child, and ran Cross Country.
Involvement in Politics
Nick first became interested in politics in High School, where he was elected Class President for 3 out of 4 years. He was also elected President of the High School Young Republicans Club, and was voted by his class as Most likely to succeed in 2001.
In 1999, Nick was introduced to Jamie Bruton and helped him run a successful campaign for Borough Council. Nick's first internship for an elected official was for his local congressman, Joe Pitts, during his junior year of high school. This was also the same year that Nick attended the Republican National Convention, which was held in Philadelphia. In 2004, he interned for Senator Rick Santorum. Nick has remained an active member of the Chester County Young Republicans since 2005.
