The company partners with the United States Postal Service to handle last-mile delivery and first-mile pickup of packages while allowing package tracking along the way.
History
Newgistics was founded in 1999 to help retailers more efficiently manage the process by which consumers could return purchases made online. It was the first company to partner with the United States Postal Service on returns capabilities which allowed postal carriers to take a package from a consumer's home address in order for it to be returned to a retailer. The company is the top provider for USPS’ Parcel Return Services.
Through a series of partnerships and acquisitions, Newgistics expanded its offerings beyond returns management into additional areas of parcel shipping and delivery, order fulfilment and e-commerce. In 2008, Newgistics acquired Cornerstone Shipping Services to expand its delivery capabilities. In 2012, it acquired At Last Fulfilment to add fulfillment capabilities and expand its parcel customer base. And in 2013, the company acquired Tacit Knowledge, a San Francisco-based software consultancy and systems integrator with expertise in the e-commerce space.
