Newgate Technology Ltd is a developer of data collection software in the United Kingdom and Ireland, based in Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland. History Formed in 1988, Newgate Technology develop software solutions for supply across the UK and Ireland. Their technology uses a range of systems that employ modern WiFi handheld mobile computers to collect data. Sapphire Theatre Management Solution Newgate Technology's Theatre Management Solution (TMS) is a system for the management of operating theatres. It records information on theatre operations in real-time, and collects data on the use of (or cancellation) of theatre sessions, procedures performed and equipment used.<ref name="bt-07jul2009"/> In its original version, it was called Sapphire, which included anelectronic patient record (EPR)<ref name="ehi-17jul2007"/>, the updated version of Sapphire which was issued in September 2007 was renamed as Nexus. In 2006 Newgate Technology (in association with British Telecom) secured the contract to supply the entire Health and Care NI in Northern Ireland (16 hospitals at that time) with the TMS solution.<ref name="bt-07jul2009"/> Piloted in Belfast City Hospital in April 2007 and implemented in Causeway Hospital, Coleraine in July 2007.<ref name="ehi-17jul2007"/> The solution was then implemented in the remaining hospitals during 2007 and 2008.
