Introduction Sajan GCMS is a Translation Management System (TMS), working with Content Management Systems (CMS) as separate, but linked programs or as simple add-ons that can answer specific multilingual requirements. Such systems automate transactions to reduce the time and money employed by manpower performing repetitive, non-productive labour. Thus, human resources can be redeployed to more productive and strategic tasks. Sajan as a Publisher Sajan started as a software development company before including language services in their offerings. In October 2009, Sajan Software split from its parent company to separate software and language services, like LTC did some months with LTC Worx before to better streamline their process and to appear independent to their clients. The ability to distinguish themselves offering a combined experience of technology and linguistic services allows these twin companies an advantaged position in the market against its competitors. Description Sajan GCMS offers automated project workflow and translation memory management in one centrally managed location. Also, the proprietary TMate Search technology is optimised to provide better matches, increasing accuracy and consistency. It also integrates version control to see who changed what and when. STMS is an add-on to GCMS that helps finding the right linguists for each client, eliminating the need to filter them at the beginning of each project. The users can maintain their own profiles, and upload their CVs, enter availability, tools, etc. Thanks to the Total Quality Management feature, processes and translation quality can be tracked, including turnaround times, edit percentage, etc. The performance of a translator can be seen at any given time via advanced reporting. Workflows In a use case detailing how the Cisco Webex website was efficiently localised thanks to Sajan GCMS, it is shown how WebEx decided to integrate their with Sajan GCMS through the use of APIs. Before this implementation, the lack of batch processes required a full site extraction to XML when any updates needed to be made, thus resulting in longer review cycles and longer project cycle times. Functionality Sajan GCMS has four main components: * GCMS Exchange: This online dashboard shows all current translation projects, allows access to an advanced translation memory technology showing versioning and history information for each segment, submits and retrieves translation projects, and includes message board collaboration tools. * GCMS Project Workbench: This module is directly related to project management, workflow and business processes, manages multilingual data and terms, processes tasks and alerts in the supply chain, and performs file processing. This is the main tool for all the project managers to collaborate and perform all necessary tasks in the system. * GCMS Linguist Workbench: This application revolves around the translation, approval, and review of documents. The flexibility that provides being able to painlessly change from the online to the offline mode thanks to Adobe Air allows for a common user interface across platforms, seamlessly update the translation platform, reach tighter levels of security, and increase the general performance. It also integrates project order and full task management, apart from functions standard in any CAT package such as termbase and TM lookup, spellcheck. * GCMS Analytics: This business intelligence tool provides advanced metrics to the client to manage their localization programs and assets more effectively. Among other technologies, this module is capable of predictive modelling, data mining, and trend analysis. Interoperability and standards Sajan GCMS can accept TMX for Translation Memory and TBX for Terminology Databases. It is designed to be able to connect to third-party CMSs through the use of Sajan's X-Content Integration. Licensing Sajan GCMS is available in three main offerings: * Technology-enabled services: technology, linguistic and administrative services from Sajan * Managed services: technology, linguistic and administrative services from Sajan, but other LSPs can also work as vendors * Software as a Service (SaaS): clients use their own LSPs options via Sajan technology with high flexibility and scalability The last option opens the door to a leading TMS, while avoiding the high costs of hardware, one-time software licenses, and IT support. Furthermore, since a subscription depends on the volume of software spent monthly, clients would only pay for what they use. This allows for a better scalability of their globalization strategies without paying more than their needs in software and support. Evaluation This solution increases collaboration and communication, improves workflow, allows multilingual data management, streamlines reporting and analytics, and ensures compliance and interoperability. A TMS solution such as Sajan GCMS is vital in ensuring the efficient localisation of current websites profiting from CMS, because any manual procedure of importing / exporting is simply not sustainable. Although pricing information remains unknown as it depends on the needs of each client, the different offerings allow for great savings (when combined with their linguistic services) and scalability (in the case of no-strings-attached SaaS). The linguist tool, although in a limited way, allows for both offline and online modes. This function allows translators to continue working even when no Internet connection is available. However, Sajan's website does not offer a complete list of features, the possibility to see a demo version of their system or some training materials.
