Neopia

Neopia is the virtual planet for Neopets. Players can venture with their Neopets throughout the many worlds of Neopia. It is made of virtual lands called "worlds." Each world has its own appearance and "culture," but consists of common areas such as shops and recreational spots (that is, games). Note that technically, regions or lands is more literally accurate than the commonly used term worlds, as these are all actually subdivisions of (or in orbit around, in the case of Kreludor) the planet of Neopia. While in Neopia, players can work, trade, invest and engage in other activities, such as playing games.

Altador

A city on the other side of Neopia is called Altador. It is a Greek/Roman inspired city.
Not much is known about Altador, but it is known that the Darkest Faerie tried to take over Altador 1000 years ago, only to be put under a curse and thrown into the ocean. She can be seen in the Ruins of Maraqua.

Proof of its existence can be found on the Neopets Trading Cards Siyana of Talador and Jerdana. The Neopets Trading Card Game set 'The Darkest Faerie' reveals that its crest is a yellow and orange sun.

Altador is ruled by 12 protectors, each having their own constellation.
# King Altador: The Hunter
# Jerdana: The Protector
# Siyana: The First to Rise
# Kelland: The Thief
# Florin: The Farmer
# Torakor: The Gladiator
# Marak: The Wave
# Fauna: The Gatherer
# Psellia: The Dreamer
# Gordos: The Collector
# Sasha: The Dancer
# The Darkest Faerie: The Sleeper

For more information, see Neopets: The Darkest Faerie.

Altador was originally called Talador, but was changed to Altador for legal reasons.

As of March 1, 2006, Altador appeared. It is located on the other side of Neopia.

One place to find Altador is a portal-entrance in Faerie City on the Faerie castle created by Queen Fyora.

As of June 24, 2006, with the introduction of a globe-type map, Altador is on the main Neopets map, indicated as a round clearing in the forest to the west of the Haunted Woods.

Since the Neopedia article on Altador, there has been a 'Hall of Heroes', containing statues of the 12 Protectors. There is a small quest which is contained only within the newly found world. In the Hall of Heroes there is a janitor who, as an in-joke, uses the same character design of the Lost Desert foreman. Many fan sites now host plot guides. All the quest parts have already been released, making the plot relatively easy to complete with the use of one of the many guides found on the internet. As of January 13, 2008, the plot is still open, with the Neopets Team promising a warning in advance if they decide to close the plot. Prizes, which include a daily prize from King Altador, are still being awarded.

Brightvale
In year 6, a new area known as Brightvale opened. Ruled by Skarl's brother Hagan, the kingdom focuses more on the Renaissance theme, focusing strongly on the importance of knowledge. Brightvale is also famous for its stained-glass windows and scrolls. Its main attraction is the Wheel of Knowledge, where a user can win a stained glass window, a Brightvale job coupon, a cheat code for a game, or a sentence of wisdom from the mouth of King Hagan himself.

Hagan believes that wisdom can triumph where war cannot. During the Meridell Wars, he did not help his brother, even when Skarl needed him most. This appears to be how Hagan showed his disapproval for the war.

Darigan Citadel
Darigan Citadel floats over Meridell and is ruled by Lord Darigan. Lord Darigan attempted to take over Meridell in its debut plot after Meridell stole the charmed orb which maintained the prosperity and happiness of the Darigan People. Darigan failed and disappeared until the next Meridell plot, in which Lord Darigan's successor, Lord Kass, secretly began planning to take over Meridell, influenced by the Three. Secretly, the diminished Lord Darigan helps the people of Meridell when Kass betrays him.

The Darigan Citadel is home to the Darigan Coloring Pages, Darigan Toys, a strategy game called Cellblock, a Petpet Arena where players can battle with their petpets, and Lord Darigan’s chamber. If the player was supportive of Darigan in the Invasion of Meridell Plot, they could get the 'Redeemed' Avatar by visiting Lord Darigan's Chamber.

As of July 9, 2007, Darigan Citadel is known as the winner of the second annual Altador Cup.

Faerieland
Faerieland is one of the fantasy worlds. It consists of two areas, Faerieland and Faerie City. It is the home of many famous Neopians, including the Faerie Queen, Fyora, who sells powerful, expensive items from a Hidden Tower in Faerie City as well as ruling wisely over the city. Along with Fyora is the evil Dark Faerie Jhudora, who lives on a cloud outside of the city, and gives out prizes in return for quests.

Faerieland has never had a plot attached to it, though it did play a large part in NeoQuest II, as the final Act. There, Queen Fyora had been captured and imprisoned by a giant Draik named King Terask, and needed to be saved by the players' characters, Rohane, Mipsy, Talinia, and Velm. The Faerie Queen also played a role in the video game Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, as the one who banished the Darkest Faerie in the first place, and Faerieland was the main area of Act 2 of the game. Faerieland is also home to the Wheel Of Excitement, where players can win Neopoints and great prizes.

There is now a portal to Altador in the Faerie city.

There is a fake link to the hidden tower in the Neopian Times

Faerieland also has many shops such as the furniture store but it is very hard to find faerie furniture.

Haunted Woods
The Haunted Woods is the Halloween-themed section of Neopia. It is the center for anything spooky or scary in Neopia. If players are looking for a headless ghost or an army of zombies in Neopia, here is where they will find it. It is also known for its win in the first annual Altador Cup.

There are three sections in the Haunted Woods: the woods themselves, Deserted Fairground, and Neovia. In the woods, players find quite a few monstrous creatures (as well as a witch) who want to send players out on quests for them. The Esophagor wants food, Edna the witch wants spell ingredients, and the Brain Tree just wants knowledge (but the only way to find the answer to his question is to complete two quests for the Esophagor). There are shops here, as well, along with the Game Graveyard, the final resting place for the games that had been taken off the site. The other area, the Deserted Fairground, is anything but deserted. As well as having the obligatory carnival games (which the owners will assure players are not rigged), there are shops and a scratch card booth.

Along with the new Haunted Woods plot, "The Tale of Woe", there are a good number of established characters from this world. Some of these are:
* Hubrid Nox - a villainous Chia who hates Lupes and would like nothing more than to take over the world with his army of zombie Neopets. He is Magax's arch-nemesis and the main enemy in "MAGAX: Destroyer" (the game).
* MAGAX: Destroyer - a Wocky who used to be a servant of Hubrid Nox, but who repented of his wicked ways and now fights his old master using his Darklight Axe. He is the star of his self-titled game, in which he fights off ghosts created by Hubrid.
* Edna - the Zafara witch of the Haunted Woods. She may or may not be evil, though it is rumored that she is the originator of items such as Meerca Pie, so she might not be the safest Neopian to be around. She needs items for her spells, and she'll pay anyone who gets them for her. Though, like all quests, the payment players receive might not make up for the price they paid for her items. She was originally a stereotypical halloween witch, like the Wicked Witch of the West and is an NPC in Neoquest II.
* Eliv Thade - an undead Kacheek who loves puzzles to the point of insanity. He is quite upset with the fact that he died before finding the solution to the only puzzle ever to stump him... and wants revenge for it. His name itself is an anagram, though it is unclear whether it is really the anagram for "evil death", "hated evil", "vile death", or "live death". He is the star of the game The Castle of Eliv Thade.
* The Brain Tree - a talking tree that claims to know everything- but still sends players out on quests for knowledge. It protects Neopia from a great evil- beware the beast that lurks behind the tree! He is also an NPC from Neoquest II.
* The Esophagor - this beast is always hungry- and it will reward players if they get it food, either with answers for the Brain Tree, or items. It is the final boss in the Haunted Woods act in NeoQuest II and, as a cursed kacheek called Albert, you have to feed it in the retired game, 'The Mutant Graveyard of Doom'. His two loves in life are food, and knowing pointless trivia about dead people of use to no-one but the Brain Tree.
* Balthazar - a Lupe bounty hunter who captures faeries and sells them for a profit. He isn't really evil- he just hates Faeries, due to a bad experience with Dark Faeries as a child- and while he is considered mean, he does give a large number of Faeries to the Money Tree in Neopia Central every now and then. He is an NPC in NeoQuest II. Balthazar is also a star of the game Extreme Herder along with Samrin, a blue Kacheek who works as a shepherd. In the game, he will eat petpets if Samrin allows him to get too close.
* The Spider Grundo- one of Sloth's experiments. Not much is known about him, but he has a short entry in the Gallery of Evil. He is also the second boss in the Haunted Woods act of NeoQuest II. Players can battle him in the battledome after viewing his page Gallery of Evil. The Spider Grundo also appears in certain random events (which have no known effect on the user or their account.)

Neovia
A new section that was added to the Haunted Woods during the The Tale of Woe plot. It is a dark, colonial-themed town similar to Sleepy Hollow, or the town in Corpse Bride. In the plot the Villagers were tempted by a mysterious Krawk into buying a potion that would grant their heart's desire. Unfortunately, the potion was cursed, and the wish would be distorted, either turning the villager into an abomination, or magnifying a personality flaw until they are entirely consumed by it.

Neovia became available on October 6, 2006. It is currently only accessible through the Gypsy Camp, but has several shops opened in it.

Jelly World
Jelly World is a secret land on the far side of Neopia which can only be accessed by its URL link. There is a giant blob of jelly for Neopets to enjoy. There are also two games and a "Blob of Green Jelly". The game, Jelly Blobs of Doom claims to have a movie coming in Winter 2010, which originally claimed to come out in Winter 2006, and then Winter 2008, but was changed when these dates arrived. The Neopets Team always denies the existence of this land, despite all the evidence it does exist, making it one of Neopets biggest in-jokes. TNT places references to the supposed nonexistent world throughout the site, including:
* Two stamps based on Jelly World.
* A quiz where the only answer to the question "Is Jelly World real?" is no.
* The Cellblock game opponent Number 4, an old Lupe who screams about Jelly World constantly. His description even has a fake link (named http://www.neopets.com/jellyworld/ and, of course, fake, because the real link is http://www.neopets.com/jelly/ like it was said before). This link said by the old Lupe from the Cellblock game (playable in the Darigan Citadel) was used to be the only link to Jelly World, but it was changed later.
* A topic in the editorial under "Jelly World" tells one to pick another topic if they select it, because "Jelly World does not exist"
* The URL for Jelly World being blocked by the NeoBoard filters.
* The phrase "Jelly World" being replaced by a random world name, before the chat filters were revamped.
* When one searches for Jelly World items, when one clicks the "See if this item is in stock!" button, an error accompanied by a string of gibberish pops up.
* The link to the giant jelly, in the neopets portal, followed by the phrase "this doesn't exist"
* A hidden Jelly Day in Y9
* Jelly-related Fun Images
* A hidden Jelly World board that is only accessible with a link
Attractions in Jelly World include;
* The Giant Jelly, which gives anyone who visits free jelly, similar to the giant omelette in Tyrannia.
* The Green Jelly, a former monument, it was eaten by every petpet in Neopia (excluding some species such as Carma) during a mini plot where many Neopets' petpets vanished mysteriously.
* The Jelly Food Shop. A Shop made of jelly, run by a jelly kacheek, who makes jelly.
* Jelly Blobs of Doom and Bouncy Supreme, two Jelly Themed Flash games
* Colouring pages
* The Practice Team during the Altador Cup is made of Jelly and looks like a possible Jelly World Team
It is generally considered impossible to get any articles or stories concerning Jelly World's existence printed in the Neopian Times. Two users have managed to blatantly do so, however. "On the Impossibility of a Jelly World" by mats77 was printed in the 253 issue of the Times, whereas "Rebuttal: ‘On the Impossibility of a Jelly World’" by octochan was printed in the 259 issue.

Kiko Lake
Kiko Lake is dedicated to the pet species Kiko. At the moment, it only houses two shops, Kiko Lake Carpentry, which sells furniture and items for Neohomes, and Kiko Lake Treats, which sells mostly rock-like foods and fudge. One can also take a tour on Glass Bottom Boat Tours, and print some Colouring Pages. In the beginning, it was called a mini-world, along with Roo Island. Not the most engaging of the Neopian worlds.

Krawk Island
Krawk Island is a pirate-themed "island". Here, players can visit a restaurant, have their Neopet trained by the Academy, play games such as Armada and Dubloon Disaster, and buy expensive, extremely rare items at the Smuggler's Cove. One can also visit the Fungus Caves and turn a Krawk petpet into a fully grown Krawk Neopet. Krawk Island is the only Neopian world with its own currency, Dubloons. Contrary to popular belief, Krawks are not native to Krawk Island. They were driven from Tyrannia to the island before the pirates arrived. The pirates thought that the Krawks were native to the island and named it after them. Krawk Island can be considered the home to the Krawk Neopet, as it is the only place in Neopia they can be created. Many players treasure the delights of Krawk Island as many users wonder if they will ever get the change to visit the world without leaving with not a Krawk in their sacks. Krawk Island placed fourth in the Altador Cup II.

Kreludor
Kreludor is the moon of the main planet Neopia. The main side of Kreludor is home to the orange grundos, and supposedly, the dark side of Kreludor is home to the purple grundos. This was supposed to be revealed in the plot "Return of Dr. Sloth" but the plot was cancelled, so this is not proven. Users can visit a Neocola Machine, buy books or eat there at a fancy cafe. They may also go to the Mining Centre where they may try to find the codes of 8 numbers, 1-9. This was originally to be part of a site plot involving Sloth, but when the plot was cancelled, the Mining Centre was abandoned, and hence no correct access code was ever added (although one code gave out a clue for the Temple of 10,000 Tombs plot).

The Mining Centre is run by the fictional Neopets villain Dr. Frank Sloth. Grundos live on Kreludor, not Virtupets Station, as most players think, though they were originally taken from the planet Doran by Dr. Sloth. (However, it is possible that Sloth was leaking misinformation to keep Neopets from discovering Kreludor and the Mining Centre, as it is often said that Grundos originated on Kreludor.)

On the 22nd of June, a meteor crashed onto Kreludor and the meteor location, Meteor Crash Site 725-XZ was available to be accessed. On the Meteor Crash Site 725-XZ, users can obtain free items such as Booktastic Books, unique petpets, food, battledome equipment and furniture. This does not happen at every visit, however. If you don't happen to get an item, the meteor sometimes vanishes, leading Neopians to wonder where, or how, it goes.

Lutari Island
Lutari Island is home to the Lutari Neopet (which closely resembles an otter). It is also the home of a new Faerie (Briana the Air Faerie) and the subject of a newer, valuable magical paint brush known as the 'Lutari Paint Brush' (Said to have been named wrong, supposed to be called 'Lutari Island Paint Brush' according to some). Lutari-colored pets are said to be exotic-looking in appearance, adorned with colorful paints and feathers - Not to be confused with the Island colour pets of Mystery Island. It is situated on the other side of Neopia, shrouded in fog, and nothing is clickable. Lutari Island is currently only accessible from cingular mobile, T- mobile, and verizon wireless phones in the US. Lutari Island was originally going to be called "Infusio Island," but it was changed.

Maraqua
Maraqua is a mysterious city that was destroyed by pirates, led by Captain Dread. Little is known about Maraqua since its destruction, because it was separated from the outer world in order to prevent its destruction again. There is a mysterious statue of the Darkest Faerie at the bottom, as well as a bubbling pit.

Neopets users can buy a rare "Maraquan Paint Brush" for approximately 4.5 million Neopoints (as of January 28, 2008) so that they can turn one of their pets into a Maraquan Neopet; there is also a corresponding Petpet version of that paintbrush. New Maraquan Neopets appear with some regularity.

Before it was destroyed, Maraqua originally had shops, such as Utility Fish, Maraquan Foods, a Maraquan Chef and Maraquan Petpets. The Maraquan petpets were moved to Mystery Island, and the Kitchen chef, who was originally a shrimp but was moved to Mystery Island and turned into a Flotsam. Flotsam, Jetsam, and Koi live in Maraqua, but Kikos visit this area often.

In Year 6 (2004), Neopets staff hinted that Maraqua was going to be rebuilt sometime in 2005. In the Advent Calendar for Year 6, Neopets gave a "Rebuild Maraqua" poster for users to put in their Neohomes. At the end of the year, Neopets staff announced on the site's news page that Maraqua was going to be rebuilt in 2005.

In Year 7 (2005), a war known as the Curse of Maraqua occurred between the remaining Maraquans and a group of pirates, led by Captain Scarblade. As the Maraquans were trying to rebuild their underwater land, Scarblade and his pirates were trying to destroy it. A war ensued, where the players of Neopets could pick whether they wanted to be a pirate or a Maraquan. The`Maraquans defeated the Pirates with an overwhelming score, and New Maraqua continued to grow.

The 'New Maraqua' is now rebuilt and can be visited by everyone. There is a collectible sea shell shop, a restaurant called "Kelp" that is now available for anyone to visit, a weaponry shop and a link to the ruins of Maraqua. The Neopets Team promised that there will be many more links now that the plot is finished. One new addition is a "fishing game" in the ruins of old Maraqua, which offers prizes ranging from an old boot to powerful Battledome weapons such as the Pike Pike.

Meridell
Meridell is the medieval themed land in Neopia, ruled by the grumpy King Skarl. It holds many attractions to the Neopets users, most of them involving vegetables, such as potatoes. Meridell is divided into 3 parts: The Meridell Castle, Meri Acres Farm, and the Meridell main page. The Darigan Citadel and Brightvale are also linked to from the Meridell map. Ixis and Draiks are native to Meridell.

Meridell and its sister nation, Brightvale, represent the two traditional images of medieval Earth - Meridell the fairly uncultured, earthy medieval period, and Brightvale the enlightened, cultured aspect.

The Turmaculus, like the Snowager, is a giant Petpet who can give players great rewards... at a risk. If players' Neopet's Petpet can wake him, he might give the Petpet an item or a level. He also might eat the Petpet.

Illusen’s Glade is the location of Illusen’s Quests, in which players must buy an item for Illusen within a time limit, for which they receive a prize.

Meridell also includes a food shop, a petpet shop, a cheese-rolling game, a bullseye game, and a mortog-kissing game.

Players can also get an avatar, when taking their petpet to the Symol Hole.

Meridell has been involved in two plots. The first introduced Meridell and Darigan's Citidel and involved a group of friends traveling, by accident, through time into Meridell, while looking for one of the main character's long lost brother, who was also in Meridell. Soon a character named Lord Darigan who came from Darigan Citadel invaded after the orb that made Darigan Citadel look normal was stolen. After a truce Darigan seemed to be destroyed from the battle and the orb broke.

After a time of peace, Meridell is invaded again by Lord Kass, who was an Eyrie. It is revealed that Darigan did survive and with the help of Meridell's warriors defeated Kass and peace returned once more. This plot can be broken into two parts as "the Invasion of Meridell" and the "Battle for Meridell" and only included a war in which users were asked to choose sides and fight in the Battledome for points.

As of September 2007, the Kingdom of Meridell is at a formal truce with the Darigan Citadel.

The kingdom of Meridell featured prominently in the video game spinoff, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, where it was taken over and possessed by the Darkest Faerie.

Also meridell is very close to the city or world brightvale

Mystery Island
Mystery Island is a tropical island hundreds of miles away from other Neopian worlds. It was introduced late in the year 2000, as one of the first "worlds" one could visit. When it was initially created, users required 'totems' to access it, a feature which has since been disabled. There are several points of interest, such as the Cooking Pot (where users can put in up to three items as an offering and if the right combination are put in, they may get a brand new item), Tombola (at which users may try to win free items once per day), and even an island-themed tour guide. While on Mystery Island, one can use the Trading Post to exchange items with other users. This is advisable, as the Trading Post is the only legal way to trade goods in Neopia. Kougras, Techos, Quiggles, Nimmos, Acaras, and JubJubs are natives.

It is often thought that the Lab Ray is located in the Haunted Woods. However, if one looks at the map, one will see it is underwater, underneath Mystery Island.

The Lost City of Geraptiku
This mini world is located on Mystery Island. The city has been abandoned, but there are still a few things to do. It features coloring pages, a petpet shop that rarely restocks, and a deserted tomb at which players may try their luck once a day to find lost treasure or have their active Neopet lose a few hit points.

Roo Island
Roo Island is the home of the pet species Blumaroo. Highlights of the island include two dice games, Dice-A-Roo, a game where one can win food items and bottled faeries as well as an avatar but they have to be over 13, and Deadly Dice (which is only playable from midnight Neopian Standard Time (NST) to 1:00 AM NST). There is also a merry-go-round which will improve a pet's mood if ridden.

Shenkuu
An Asian-themed world that has so far exhibited a mix of Japanese and Chinese culture, it was related to a recently finished plot involving a group of sailors (The crew of The Cyodrake's Gaze) from Shenkuu stranded on Krawk Island. The name of the world was originally displayed in the Kou-Jong game (a Mahjong variant), but was removed when the Kou-Jong game left beta testing. The ship began appearing and disappearing in different places of Neopia, until September 7, 2006, when it finally returned to its homeland because they found Hoban (see Aisha), their navigator. Its location is on the high mountains north of Altador.

As of July 9, 2007, Shenkuu surprised all of Neopia by finishing third (in its first year) in the second annual Altador Cup.

Words are not used to indicate points of interest on the Shenkuu map.

Tyrannia
Tyrannia is a prehistoric world. It gets its name from the Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur, on which the Neopet Grarrl is based. There is a jungle in the south and the plateau to the north. Tyrannia was "discovered" when an earthquake in the Ice Caves caused a crack to form in the ground. Previously, this crack could be used as a quick "portal" to Tyrannia from the Ice Caves (Terror Mountain). In Tyrannia, one can visit a concert, grab a slice of Giant Omelette, play such games as Go! Go! Go! or buy Tyrannian furniture. Native pets include the Pteri, Chomby, Grarrl, Scorchio, and Tonu. It is also the home of the Krawk petpet (the unevolved state of the Neopet).

Terror Mountain
Terror Mountain is the winter-themed home of the Bruce, Bori, the Cybunny, Poogle and the Snow Faerie. It is divided into three separate places to explore: Happy Valley, Terror Mountain and the Ice Caves. The discovery of Tyrannia occurred because of a crack in the floor of the Ice caves.

Happy Valley
In Happy Valley, there is an Ice Cream Cart where users can use coupons to buy ice creams, and an Advent Calendar where users can claim free gifts everyday during the Month of Celebrating (December). Shops in Happy Valley include the Wintery Petpet Shop and at the Slushie Shop.

The Ice Caves
The Ice Caves contain an Ice Arena, a scratch card kiosk, a "Neggery" to exchange Neggs, and the Snowager's Cave, where users can attempt to steal the Snowager's treasure while it is asleep(6:00 AM to 6:59 AM, 2:00 PM to 2:59 PM, and 10:00 PM TO 10:59 PM NST). Shops in The Ice Caves include Ice Crystals, where weapons such as the Freezing Potion and Spicy Snowflakes may be found.

Terror Mountain
The top of Terror Mountain has a shop of mystery where users can buy random mystery items, a toy repair shop for broken toys and various games. Taelia the Snow Faerie also resides at the peak, and users can go on 'quests' for her, fetching random items in order for a special reward. Shops on Terror Mountain include the Happy Icy Fun Snow Food Shop and the Igloo Garage Sale.

The Lost Desert
Location of the Brucey B and the Lucky Coin, The Hunt for the Crown and the more recent The Lost Desert Plot.

The Lost Desert is an area of Neopia which resembles Egypt in that it houses games like Pyramids, has an obelisk and the shop that sells Egyptian-style pottery. In the early years of Neopets there was a plot to find the crown of King Coltzan (the crown in now housed in the obelisk named Coltzan's Shrine).

More recently though it has had a new plot named only Lost Desert Plot (commonly referred to as the LDP), in which users had to complete numerous tasks, eventually causing the defeat of Razul, father of Jazan, a main character in the plot. This plot caused a new Lost Desert map which users will now find is set into to main sections, the city of Sakhmet, which is a revised version of the original Lost Desert and the city of Qasala the homeland of Prince Jazan.

The only pets native to the Lost Desert are the Ruki and Elephantes.

The City of Sakhmet
The city of Sakhmet is the capital city of the Lost Desert. Originally ruled by King Coltzan III, it is currently ruled by his eldest daughter, Amira. Sakhmet was originally the name of the tent city that took up most of the Lost Desert prior the plot. During the Plot, in an attempt to get Amira to marry him, Jazan transported the city to an alternate dimension, leaving the Lost Desert with only a few attractions. After Jazan and Nabile got married, the city returned to Neopia, and was given its own map.

Qasala
Qasala is Sahkmet's closest neighbor. Originally ruled by Razul, he placed a curse on his people to ensure his immortality, turning the city into ruins. His son Jazan had to marry a princess of Sahkmet to lift the curse on his people. After Razul was defeated, Qasala was given its own map. It is now ruled by Jazan and Nabile.
Appearing as ruins from the outside, the inside of the city is magnificently decorated, albeit with only 4 shops in the whole city. Strangely enough, the curse's effects were not lifted entirely, so it is not uncommon to see a mummy in a Qasalan related event. Qasala is home of the recently opened shop, "Mystical Surroundings," which sells backgrounds used to customize your Neopets.

Virtupets Space Station
This is a space world built by Doctor Frank Sloth. In Year 2 (2000), The Evil Doctor Sloth came to Neopia to make all the Neopets his mutant slaves (after enslaving Grundos). This was finally stopped by the Space Faerie, and now his space station is a tourist attraction. There are many famous Neopians on the space station.
* Gargarox, the Grundo chef is the cook at Grundo's Cafe. He likes playing Gormball in his spare time.
* The Spider Grundo, a mutant Grundo Doctor Sloth made (who currently resides in the Haunted Woods).
* Grimilix, a grundo programmer who helped in the NV2 plot.
* Inigmah the Space Brain, who used to work for Doctor Sloth and hack computers. He also was the main character in a game called CodeBreakers, which is now in the Game Graveyard.

In Year 9 (2008) as part of the Return of Doctor Sloth plot the space station was revamped. This revamp spread the map over 3 sections (Recreation Deck, Supply Deck and Hanger) and allowed for the games added since the first map build to have a place along with new modern graphics.
