National Navigation Award Scheme

The National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) was launched at the Royal Institute of Navigation in 1994. The Scheme is a personal performance, non-competitive, incentive scheme for all ages to learn navigation skills and gain confidence to get out and enjoy the countryside.
Award Categories
The scheme operates both an adult and junior series of awards, each series has 3 levels of awards. The awards are aimed at all age groups and abilities.
All NNAS courses include advice and information about relevant safety and access issues when walking in the countryside. In addition, an understanding of relevant conservation and environmental issues and awareness of our impacts all form part of each course.
The NNAS is recognised by many outdoor and outdoor training related organisations as a sound and encouraging training system to learn the skills of land based navigation and gain confidence in planning your own outdoor journeys. Support comes from
