MyLot

myLot is a social utility available on the Internet which is notable for its ability and promise to compensate freely subscribed users for their time and contribution to the website. As of 13th February 2010, the website was the base of a social community numbering 198,388 users.
Basic concept
myLot was launched in late 2006, offering its users an innovative concept of payment for the use of the website as a social networking platform. The myLot payment system promises to reward users for their activity and contribution to the site, while also offering an innovative reward scheme whereby the website admin can set tasks to be completed online, or individual users can set tasks for each other, on promise of payment regulated by myLot.

Tasks
myLot operates and regulates an online reward system for the distribution of and payment for tasks which are completed on the Internet by its members. This system allows users to check the website regularly to see if tasks have been made available, either by the website admin, or by individual users. Notable is the fact that each task is assigned a set reward and a number of available slots, with each slot representing an opportunity to complete the task for an individual user. For example, 3 available slots for a task may represent a chance for three individual users to complete the same task.
Discussions
myLot offers a platform for discussion by its users through a novel forum design, which permits authors of individual posts to tag their started discussions or replies with keywords for other users to locate by means a of a search tool, or by means of defining their interests in the individual user profile or each user. The discussion capability is included within the promised reward scheme of myLot, with users being rewarded financially for every contribution they make to the website in terms of a discussion started or a reply. However, myLot openly regulates the attributes and nature of the posting, and encloses within its terms of service a policy of removing posts (and their associated rewards) if the posts do not meet the website’s policy guidelines.
Interests
The website permits its users to select and define their interests within the scope of their profile, ultimately customising the users experience on the website. For example, a user who expresses an interest in “writing” on the website will receive targeted information about discussions, tasks, blogs and photos involving writing. There is no limit to how many interests a user may adopt, and a user may choose to establish their own unique interests, which will become available as an option to other users.
Blogs
The website permits its users to submit blogs to the website within the scope of its terms of service.
Messages and online friends
myLot offers a platform for social networking, and on this basis, users are able to add one another as friends, or recruit friends to the website on the promise of financial reward from myLot. A messaging tool allows individual users to communicate privately with each other within the website.
Photos
myLot also permits users to submit their photos, as long as they confirm to guidelines. These photos can then be used by others to customise their use of the website, on the promise that the original owner is rewarded financially each time this happens.
Earnings from using myLot
The myLot website incorporates an online tool which permits individual users to keep track of, on a daily basis, their earnings from using the website. These earnings are ostensibly cumulative and may be affected by participation (i.e. activity on the website), referral of new users as members on the website and their activity, and the completion of tasks for rewards.
Referral scheme
The website permits users to refer other people to myLot by means of a customised referral link for each user. Using this link, a member of myLot is promised financial reward on an incrementally increasing basis if the referred person or persons signs up as a member and begins to participate in the activity of the website.
Requirements for earning
myLot requires a valid PayPal account that the user must register in order to begin receiving payment. myLot makes monthly payments to its users, but only when a minimum balance of at least $10.00 has been achieved by the user. A user may choose to increase the minimum balance so that they can receive more money in single payments, less regularly. It is also stated that a myLot user must sign into their account at least once every 90 days in order to avoid forfeiture of their unpaid earnings.
