Murcia jewish community

The Jewish Community in Murcia Spain dates back hundreds of years in terms of influence in the culture of Murcia.Nowaday the Jewish Community has grown due to eimmigration from the north of europe as Murcia has become a settling place for retirees from colder countries in the north parts of our European Community.

Jews from Germany England Holland now call Murcia home. Jews from Madrid and Barcelona as well have moved here with children for the warmer weather. In Polaris World, a new community in Murcia.there is now a sinagogue ,jewish school, rabbi and kosher market.

The Jewish Community Center in Polaris World offers classes in Hebrew with Israelis who as well live here, classes in jewish israeli dance, yiddish, and serves as a centerpiece for celebrating all Jewish holidays.hannukah passover etc. The Jews here are not very religious, infact many are aethiests as they selfdefine.

As for Antisemitism it is for the most part absent. Local murcianos see the Jews as members of the overall murcian community. In fact the King of Spain has said that Jews in his country are not a part of nostalgia but have always been here since before the first king and have never totally left.
