Muhammad Ilyas Mirza

Muhammad Ilyas Mirza is a historian and leader of the Pakistan based Mughal community.
The forefathers of Mr. Muhammad Ilyas Mirza migrated from Central Asia through Afghanistan and eventually settled in Sialkot, Pakistan about 300 years ago.

The family belongs to the Iranian rulers known as “El Khan”. Their ancestors were awarded with the greatest Mughal title of Tarkhan meaning Superior Mughal, due to their contributions in battle.
Mr. Mirza was born in a village in the District of Sialkot, Pakistan on October 10, 1944. He completed his secondary education from the Government High School Pasroor following which together with his family he moved to Lahore in order to pursue his Higher Education. On obtaining his Masters degree in Maths he joined the Pakistan Railway Department as a Group Inspector of the Special Ticket Examiner.
Following the death of the Mughal leader, Mirza Muhammad Ul Din, Mr. Mohammed Ilyas Mirza decided to offer his services to the Mughal community. At the same time he began his research into the history of the Mughals setting up the Mongol Research Project, Lahore and traveled to many countries to study historical records in the libraries of these countries. Mr. Mirza owns in excess of 2000 books on Mughals history in his personal library. He has launched the Nawa-e-Mughal magazine and has tried to connect and unite the Mughals.

* Mr. Mirza has also written many books and articles on subjects such as cultural and religious matters.
Mr. Mirza has been many Awards for his services including the “Millennium Award Gold Medal” by the American Biographical Institute of America.
