MPFreaker is an automatic music editor program for Mac OS X originally released in January 2004, written by Leon McNeill of LairWare Software. MPFreaker analyzes available information in music MP3 ID3 and AAC information tags and uses that information to perform internet database searches, in order to find other information missing from those information tags. These internet searches are handled without any user interface, so that the MPFreaker user only selects music for which information is to be added, and sees the information appear as it arrives. Information that can be automatically gathered by MPFreaker includes album artwork, song lyrics, album name, track number, release year, and genre. MPFreaker can also re-title existing tracks if the artist, album name, and track number already exist. MPFreaker also acts as a manual tag editor for MP3 and AAC song files, allowing manual editing of all of the above mentioned types of information. See also: iEatBrainz
