Moriel Matalon

Moriel Matalon (Lawyer) is an Israeli Lawyer and the managing partner of Gornitzky & Co., one of the largest and prestigious law firms in Israel.
Biography
Mr. Matalon specializes in Infrastructure and Energy Projects, International Trade Transactions, Real Estate, Corporate & Commercial, Hi-Tech & Communications, Mergers & Acquisitions and Hotels.
Mr. Matalon served, amongst other, as the leading lawyer on behalf of the Israeli government in the Cross-Israel Highway 6 project, and on behalf of the government in the Tel Aviv Light Rail project.
He led an international consortium for the world’s largest sea-water desalination project at Ashkelon. Mr. Matalon represented the Israeli government in the privatization and IPO of the government-owned company- Shekem, acted on behalf of the Israeli government in the privatization and sale of the Paz Oil company, and represents leading international and Israeli hotel chains.
He has represented clients in significant commercial matters, amongst others, involvement in the launching of Israel’s first satellite TV Company, including receipt of license from the government, regulatory and legislative aspects up to appeals to the Israeli Supreme Court.
Moriel Matalon is the Managing Partner of the firm and the Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee. While a student at the Hebrew University during the 60's, Mr. Matalon served as Vice-Chairman of the Student Union and as chairman of the Likud Party Students Organization (known at that time as Gahal).
Mr. Matalon served as an assistant to a Minister in the Israeli government from 1969 to 1970. From 1970 to 1975 he served at the Military Advocate-General Unit of the Israel Defense Forces, first as a military prosecutor, and later as the Deputy Head of the International Law department of the Israel Defense Forces. After completing five years of service, he moved to New York where he worked as an associate at the law firm of Amen, Weissman and Butler in New York City from 1975 to 1978.
Mr. Matalon returned to Israel and joined Gornitzky & Co. in April 1978, becoming a partner in 1981. He has an LL.B. from the Hebrew University (1970) and an LL.M. (cum laude) from the Hebrew University (1974).
