Jeremy Shure

Jeremy Shure (born August 15, 1978, in New Haven, Connecticut) is the founder and managing principal of Excel Capital Partners, an investment and consulting firm based in New York City. He is a frequent blogger, and a public speaker on the subjects of public speaking and social media. He is also known for his philanthropic endeavors with the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces and Active Minds.
Background and education
Shure was raised in Woodbridge, Connecticut, and Potomac, Maryland. In high school, he was a nationally ranked debater at Walt Whitman High School. During his high school and early college years, he worked for Senator Joseph Lieberman and also for General Colin Powell at America's Promise.
He graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, and received a law degree from Boston University School of Law. He spent his third year of law school at New York University School of Law, and completed a post-baccalaureate in finance at Columbia University.
Career
Shure began his career as a litigator with King & Spalding LLP. In 2005, he was one of six founding attorneys of the New York City office of Akerman Senterfitt, where he litigated in the areas of white-collar criminal defense, securities litigation, entertainment law, and general commercial litigation.
In 2009, he left the practice of law to pursue business as the COO of a national third-party logistics company with over 1200 employees.
In 2013, he founded Excel Capital Partners in New York City. Excel Capital Partners is a boutique advisory and early-seed venture capital firm. He is also an advisor to Greatist and to Riferral, Inc.

Philantropy
Shure is a past President of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Young Leadership Division, having spent ten years as a board member and was heavily instrumental in the division's raising over $10 million in ten years. He is also a newly elected member of the National Board of Directors of Active Minds, a not-for-profit focused on combating the stigma associated with mental health.
Personal life
Shure lives in New York City with his wife and son.
