Mikhail Portnov

Born in Russia (1956) Mikhail Portnov is an American entrepreneur known as the founder of the PORTNOV COMPUTER SCHOOL as well as a n. He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering (1978, the Moscow Institute of Telecommunications, Russia) and Mathematics (1982, the Tver State University, Russia).

Mikhail Portnov started his professional career as a digital design engineer in 1978, but in 1982 he directed his career path to the educational research specializing in development of methods of intensive professional training.

Upon immigrating to the US in 1990 Mikhail Portnov worked as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer for a number of Silicon Valley companies including industry leaders such as Borland International, Lotus Development Corporation, BroadVision, and others.

In August of 1994 Mikhail Portnov started a training program in Software Quality Assurance to assist interested in career change college educated individuals, mostly immigrants from Russia, India, and China. That offered by PORTNOV COMPUTER SCHOOL program is known as the first Software QA career change training program in the world.
