Mike Nagy is the Green Party of Canada Environment Critic and candidate for the Guelph federal electoral district (riding) in Ontario, Canada. A is being held in the riding due to the resignation of incumbent Liberal Member of Parliament Brenda Chamberlain on April 7 2008. Prime Minister Stephen Harper called for the to be held on September 8th, 2008.
Biography Born in Hamilton in 1961, Nagy earned his BA in Geography and Political Science at McMaster University. Following graduation, he pursued a career in business and has worked in Sales/Marketing and Management. He is currently employed as a consultant.
Nagy's mother was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario while his grandfather worked at the Guelph Mercury.
In the 2004 federal election Nagy received 7.35% of the vote in 3866 of 53850 votes cast. In the 2006 election, he received 8.7% of the vote in 5376 of 61635 votes cast.
Nagy is currently active in the Guelph/Eramosa Township Environmental Stewardship Council, the Water Committee for the Centre Wellington Citizens Coalition, OPIRG Speed River Project, Eramosa Sounding Community Action Committee, Pollution Probe and Arts and Culture Eramosa. *Supports tax-incentives for day cares. *Advocates reform in . *Environmental policy called "holistic", plans to address sustainability and deep ecology. *Hopes to modify environmentally unfriendly jobs.
