Michael (Mike) Gildersleeve is a Green Party of British Columbia candidate for MLA in the Maple Ridge-Mission electoral district. Background Mike Gildersleeve is the proud father of two young adults, an environmental activist, social worker and family group conferencing facilitator. Prior to becoming a social worker, Mike was a carpenter contractor. Mike is a long term resident of Maple Ridge. He is a defender of social justice issues in his community and throughout BC. Mike has been a member of the Western Canada Wilderness Committee since 1988 and currently is Vice-chair of the Board for WCWC. In his own community Mike is an active member of the Blue Mountain Kanaka Creek Conservation Group, Pitt Polder Preservation Society and former member of PRAWN (Pitt River Area Watershed Network). He recently joined CAUSS (Citizens Against Urban Sprawl), an environmental group in Mission. He is a shop steward for his BCGEU local, a former board member at large for the BC Association of Social Workers and served as a member of the Maple Ridge Rural Planning Committee in 1996/1997. Mike is an avid outdoor enthusiast. He ran as a Green Party of BC candidate, in two previous elections (2001 and 2005) and also ran in the recent Federal Election, as a candidate for the Federal Green Party of Canada.
