Mike Morrell is a business owner and politician from Southern California. Mike was born in Covina, California in 1952 and has lived in the Inland Valley since 1979. Mike graduated from Damien High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of La Verne. He holds a Brokers License from the California Department of Real Estate. Mike has been involved in many private and civic organizations through out the years and enjoys working with families. Mike has been married to Joanie for 31 years and together they have three children . Mike Morell was a candidate for the 63rd Assembly in 2004, coming in third behind Bill Emmerson and Elia Pirozzi he lost by four percentage points . The race was so close it made many in the local party take notice that he came within 1,458 votes of Bill Emmerson, Mike received 9,047 votes or 25.3% of the total for the 2004 race . The 63rd Assembly District covers Redlands, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Highland, Loma Linda, Moreno Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, San Bernardino, Upland and Yucaipa . Public Policy ---- Mike Morrell has been a contributing writer to many publications , his main policy views focus on his belief that Californians are overtaxed and businesses are leaving the state. He is running on the Republican ticket on a platform of "reducing bureaucracy," "defending the family" and "opposing new taxes and spending." According to Mike 135,000 California businesses have pulled up stakes in the past year, even though the state has great weather and ports and is a world leader in technology and agriculture .
