Mike McGlaflin is an American designer and entrepreneur. He is best known for his mens footwear with the French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent. In 2007 McGlaflin was tapped by the fashion maison Louis Vuitton to consult in various areas of mens footwear design and strategy. His work there, capped by his successful involvement in the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton collection, lead to interest from several other high profile brands. After various collaborations, in 2009 McGlaflin was asked by Stefano Pilati, creative director at Yves Saint Laurent, to start a special project with the French fashion house. The success of that project lead to a three year stint with Saint Laurent directing the design and strategy of their mens footwear. Early life and career Born and raised in Washington, D.C. , McGlaflin spent his early professional life managing every aspect of a flourishing surf shop on the east coast. McGlaflin moved to New York City in 1991 and immediately began working in a free lance capacity in production at MTV. This lead to several other creative opportunities within film & television subsequently landing him in Los Angeles, CA where he eventually managed several sound stages at Independent Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. McGlaflin transitioned into the music business in 1997, spending nearly seven years in an A&R capacity at boutique label Gotee Records, running the entire creative process for an extensive roster before becoming the President of Emack Music Publishing, a position he held for nearly three years. In late 2006 McGlaflin created design and consultation firm The MDBL Conspiracy, devoting his full time attention to design, strategy, and brand development for a variety of high profile companies, among them Southern California heritage surf brand Con Surfboards. 2007 brought French high fashion power house Louis Vuitton to his list of clients, then 2009 another French house Yves Saint Laurent In 2010 McGlaflin became the managing partner of Con Surfboards. Personal life Mike McGlaflin married actress Brooklyn Sudano in October 2006.
