Mikael Hagstrom

Agne Mikael Hagstrom (born June 10, 1968) is a businessman and speaker on technology and innovation. He is the Executive Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific of SAS Institute. Hagstrom also holds the elected position of Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union Executive Council and serves as a member of the United States Council for International Business Executive Committee and the Atlantic Council Board of Directors.
A frequent speaker on the multinational business climate, Hagstrom has participated as an expert on panels at the World Economic Forum, OECD In December, 2012 he spoke at the launch of the U.S. National Intelligence Council's Global Trends 2030: Alternative Worlds report.
Hagstrom is editorial director of Intelligence Quarterly magazine and a contributor to Friends of Europe's The State of Europe: Escaping the Doldrums report and World Economic Forum’s 2012 Global Information Technology Report.
Personal life
Hagstrom was born to Jan-Agne and Ulla-Britt Hagström in Limhamn, Sweden on June 10, 1968. He currently works from SAS world headquarters in Cary, NC, where he lives with his wife, Ursula, and son, Niklas.
SAS Institute
Hagstrom began his career with SAS in 1989 as a Customer Support Specialist in Sweden. Since then, he held positions as Norway Country Manager, European Sales Director and EMEA Vice President of Sales, before being named to his current position as head of EMEA and Asia Pacific in 2007.
Hagstrom now oversees operations in roughly 50 countries and leads a global team of 4,500 professionals. He is a board member, head officer or chairman of more than 30 SAS subsidiaries.
SAS and its subsidiaries are frequently recognized as great places to work. In 2012 the Great Place to Work Institute ranked SAS No. 1 in a list of top multinational companies to work for. SAS Netherlands, SAS Norway and SAS Sweden have also been named No. 1 in their respective countries by the Great Place to Work Institute. Many other country subsidiaries have been regularly ranked as well.<ref name=awards />
