Michael Robert Evans

Michael Robert Evans (born 1959) who is originally from Germany, spent his childhood in Indiana and New England. In 1998, he became a Fulbright scholar studying in the Arctic as well as spending three months in the Australian outback. Evans is an associate dean of the journalism department at Indiana University where he also teaches magazine writing and editing as well as other courses. Evans has done freelance magazine work since 1974 appearing in such publications such as People and Seventeen.
While being Evans' first novel in the young adult literature genre, 68 Knots, comes highly recommended by all who have read it. He describes it in an interview as a book about a group of kids who get lost sailing, turn to pirating for the summer, and at the end of their adventure "they figure out how to be the people that they want to be".
