Michael Pillay

Michael Pillay is the Nom de Guerre of Sharversvaran Pather , a former liberation fighter with the armed wing of the ANC, Umkhonto we Sizwe, who has evolved into an author and whose first book is theThe Stars are my Guide.
Biography
Michael Pillay was born on 13 January 1971 in Durban, South Africa and is of Tamil descent. After the death of his father due to politics at the hands of the apartheid government in South Africa, he participated in the student revolts of the 1980's, opposing the Tricameral system of government and was detained and tortured at the hands of the dreaded Security Police.
Fleeing his home and family, he went into exile, training in the Umkhonto we Sizwe camps in Angola and the former Soviet Union where he passed the strenuous Spetsnaz special forces course, being awarded his Spetsnaz operators badge in gold.
He returned to Africa and was recruited to the elite Special Operations section of Umkhonto we Sizwe, conducting operations in South Africa until the unbanning of the ANC in 1990.
He served the ANC in various capacities until the dawn of democracy in South Africa in 1994, when he integrated into the South African Police Service and was subsequently recruited to the country's intelligence services where he served with distinction until his early resignation.
Pillay is currently staying in Gauteng, South Africa and has turned to full-time writing as an occupation.
