Michael Labno is the Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate. Labno was added to the ballot by the Illinois State Board of Elections after gaining ballot access by means of citizen petition. Labno will face Republican Mark Kirk, Democrat Alexi Giannoulias and Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones in the general election in November 2010. Background Labno was raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He currently resides in Oak Brook, Illinois, a village in DuPage and Cook Counties. Labno is a former auto mechanic and is currently an electrical project construction manager. He has volunteered with the organization Chicago Guardian Angels. Labno is also a recruiter for Private Security Union Local 21. Senate campaign Positions According to his campaign website, Labno is pro-life and supports 2nd Amendment rights, bringing U.S. troops home from abroad, reforming the U.S. financial system, and reducing government regulations. Special Election U.S. District Judge John Grady has ruled that the November 2, 2010 general election will include an election for the open U.S. Senate seat as well as a special election to complete the remainder of President Senate term which expires in January of 2011. Grady's ruling determined that candidates qualified for the general election ballot will be the same candidates for the special election ballot.
