Michael Genari (born May 24, 1978) is an actor in Los Angeles, CA. He is best known for small parts on television. Some of his featured work has been an MTV show in Cancun, Mexico; New York Undercover, Law & Order, SVU, The Sopranos among other New York based television series. Born in Brazil, Genari moved to Long Island, New York when he was 10 years old, where he later studied at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City. Early life While living on Long Island Genari attended and graduated from Mineola High School in Garden City Park, NY. During high school, Genari's sole interest was acting. At one point his parents were called to the school dean's office because Genari was quoted as saying to all his teachers "that school mattered and was important to those who want to be doctors and lawyers; but actors needed to focus on their craft." Anyone found to criticize actors, Genari would respond that 'An actor will never use Mathematics or Algebra, or Physics; and if I ever play a role that will require such knowledge; I will simply act." This led to the school threatening to pull Genari off all school plays and drama class. Genari later complied and said he would take school serious in order to remain in all high school drama productions. Despite not dedicating himself fully to his academics, Genari easily graduated High School and went on to audition for Film & TV. During an interview at the 2006 New York City Tribeca Film Festival, Genari was asked besides acting school, how did he prepare himself for future work and or intense roles. Genari replied by saying that during his young years, while everyone smoked up and went to parties; he would audition day and night; by waiting on audition lines with thousands of other hopefuls, in the rain, snow or shine. After getting home, he would dress like his characters; rehearse in front of the mirror with a camera until he achieved as he puts it: "my desired perfection of my character." Film Training In the late 1990s Genari attended The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute where he studied method acting intensely. He also attended Weist Barron School of Film. Current work While currently residing in Los Angeles, CA; Genari is set to start in a feature film directed by AJ Scott. However, no word has been given to when pre-production is to start; nor when principal shooting is to commence.
