The Mercury Cafe is a music, arts, and community venue in Denver Colorado. Its original location was in Indian Hills, and moved to Denver in the 1980s. The Pearl Street incarnation of the Mercury was legendary, mixing rock music, theater, and other arts in equal measure. In 1990 the Mercury moved to its present location, 2199 California Street. "The Merc" offers a dining room, serving exclusively-organic foods with an emphasis on local specialties and fair-trade practice, where live music is presented several nights a week. There is also a separate bar section where wine, spirits, teas and desserts are served in a lounge-style environment, often with more casual live music. The upper floor features a dance floor where local jazz, swing and big-band musicians play, and dance lessons are provided to interested patrons.
