History
California College of Music was founded in 1998. Originally operating under the name Pasadena International Music Academy (“PIMA”). PIMA offered intensive music education to international students who wanted to perfect their musical skills in a personal, supportive environment.
In 2007, PIMA came under the supervision of Grammy Award winning recording engineer Reggie Dozier and legendary trombonist Wayne Henderson, founder of the Jazz Crusaders, both distinguished leaders in the commercial music and recording industries. Out of this alliance, the California College of Music (“CCM”) was born; a new mentoring college for aspiring musicians and engineers who study to be professionals in the music industry.
CCM provides intensive training for vocalists, instrumentalists, audio engineers, DJs and music producers. The programs are designed with the philosophy that the most effective instruction is given in an intimate environment, allowing for a student-centered, customized curriculum. In a hands-on student experience similar to taking private lessons, CCM students receive more personal attention than they would in a larger institution.
