Product
MealEnders were developed by San Francisco-based WillPower Labs, Inc. (led by Mark Bernstein) in conjunction with Silicon Valley-based food development firm Mattson. The Mattson team was led by Barb Stuckey, author of Taste What You're Missing.
The lozenges are designed to cue the cessation of eating by keeping the user occupied until the feeling of satiety is reached naturally. According to CEO and Founder Mark Bernstein, the product "works to reward and reset your taste buds, while helping to naturally transition your focus away from eating". The lozenges can be used at the end of a meal to avoid overeating or at any point in the day to avoid excess snacking. Each lozenge contains 15 calories, 2 grams of sugar and is gluten- and caffeine-free. When the episode was filmed in 2016 the company had had lifetime sales of $1.2 million. A year after the broadcast of Shark Tank, the company’s lifetime sales had grown to over $5 million.
