Mayukh Biswas is a student leader from West Bengal and the All India General Secretary of Students' Federation of India. Along with V P Sanu, he was elected as the chief office bearer in the 16th All India Conference of Students' Federation of India held at Shimla, on 2 November 2018. Life Mayukh Biswas was born on 20 August 1987 in Dumdum, North 24 Parganas to a family carrying the legacy of freedom struggle and communist movement. His maternal grandfather was a freedom fighter and also participated in communist led Tebhaga Peasant Movement. Mayukh Biswas completed his schooling from Hindu School, Kolkata and did his higher studies from Presidency College (later Presidency University) and University of Calcutta.These institutes are one of the oldest Modern Educational Institution in Asia and it played prominent role during Bengal Renaissance period. He has completed his Bachelors in Geography and Masters in Human Rights. He is currently researching on Tea Garden Workers as PhD fellow from University of Calcutta. Political career Mayukh Biswas entered student politics through Students' Federation of India in 2003. He was elected to the unit committee of Presidency College in 2005 and later became the president that committee in 2007. By 2008 he was part of the SFI unit committee in Ballygunge Science College and he got elected as the President of Ballygunge College Students Union (2009-10). Later he was elected as the President of Calcutta University students union for the tenure 2010-11. He was further elected to SFI local committee at Calcutta University (2009), SFI Calcutta District Committee (2010). He was the SFI Kolkata District president President (2012-15) and got elected to SFI West Bengal State Committee in 2012. In the 15th All India Conference of Students' Federation of India held at Sikar, Rajasthan on 25-26 January 2016 Mayukh Biswas was elected as the All India Joint Secretary of . In the 16th All India Conference of SFI he became the All India General Secretary of Students' Federation of India. After Ritabrata Banerjee, Mayukh Biswas was the General Secretary of SFI to be elected from West Bengal. Mayukh Biswas has participated and coordinated different Human Rights peace and training workshop in Bangladesh and Nepal. He was part of Young leader delegation to United Kingdom, sponsored by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office UK in 2015. In 2017, he was one of the delegates from National Preparatory Committee of India in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, Russia. Mayukh played a very important role in the student struggles demanding university status for Presidency College in 2010. He was a militant face in the agitations against the attack on democracy by removing the democratic rights of the sennet and syndicate in the Universities and also against the corruption in admission procedure. The struggle for campus democracy was marked at its peak when Sudipto Gupta, the Vice President of SFI Kolkata district committee was martyred in protest action on 2 April 2013. After this the West Bengal state government was compelled to announce college and university election. He has always been vocal against the de-politicisation and privatisation of education. Mayukh played a crucial role in organising thousands of students and youth in West Bengal on 12 September 2019 for the long march demanding employment and education for all. He expressed solidarity to the indefinite hunger strike launched by the SSC candidates qualified for appointments in Kolkata. Representing Students' Federation of India, Mayukh was part of the protest action in New Delhi against both the visit of Brazilian President Bolsonaro and American President Donald Trump on 25 January 2020 and 24 February 2020 respectively against their pro-corporate economic policies. During his tenure, SFI has organised militant protests against both the controversial National Education Policy and National Register of Citizens, Citizenship Amendment Ac<nowiki/>t and National Population Register. The Jana Gana Mana Rally organised by SFI with the slogan "Save Constitution" at Esplanade in Central Kolkata was one major event. He has led various rallies against Narendra Modi Governments Education policy. He has also taken position against the conduct of NEET Examination and demanded its abolition. His leadership in SFI during the Covid-19 caused lockdown in India called for "protest from home" demanding immediate disbursement of fellowships and scholarships to students.
