Matthew J. Feiner (born December 1, 1963) is the owner of the Devil's Gear bike shop and a cycling advocate in the city of New Haven, CT. Feiner founded the Devil's Gear in 2000, upon moving back to New Haven from Austin, Texas. Feiner races competitively, coaches the Yale cycling team, and advocates for engineering improvements and legislation to improve bicycling. He was a founding member of Elm City Cycling in 2009. Feiner has been praised by the press, winning the New Haven Advocate's Best Bike Shop award, and by periodicals such as Bicycling magazine. He has spoken out on bike safety numerous times, and has worked with City Hall and regional advocacy groups including Elm City Cycling. Feiner is well known for returning stolen bicycles to their owners. His shop has been robbed, having been broken into August 11, 2009 and other occasions as well. Feiner is also an accomplished artist, both in his previous home in Austin, Texas, and in New Haven, Connecticut.
