Matt Hermer — Founder and Managing Director of Ignite Group

The Ignite Group is a market leader in the UK luxury on-trade sector, with a portfolio of premium quality, highly successful bar, club and restaurant brands based in London.

Prior to setting up Ignite, Matthew was employed in the city as an investment banker working at Hambros, Kleinwort Benson and ABN Amro where he was an
Associate Director.

In 1998 Matt saw an opportunity in a failing bar in Chelsea and used his finance experience to create and turnaround a site into what is now Ignite’s flagship bar.

For over a year Matthew continued to work in the city whilst setting up Eclipse Bar Ventures and finally left ABN Amro in 1999 to dedicate himself full time to growing the business. His passion for the food and drink industry has grown Ignite to a unique, independent company.

Ignite’s portfolio includes Boujis, the award winning nightlife brand and private
members club renowned for it’s A-list clientele; Cocoon, one of the leading London Pan Asian restaurants; Bumpkin, a series of English country style restaurants; and Eclipse, a group of stylish, premium cocktail bars.

Matt Hermer’s credentials are supported by multiple industry recognised bar, club and restaurant awards, received over the last 10 years. He was recently recognised as '2008 Restaurateur of the Year' at Tatler’s Annual Award Ceremony, and was acknowledged in the Evening Standard’s 1000 Most Influential People 2008.
