Matt Chait (born January 19, 1980, Los Angeles, California) is an American guitarist most known for his playing on the debut album by James Blunt, Back to Bedlam and most recently on Marié Digby's Unfold; both produced by Tom Rothrock. From 2002 to 2005, Chait played guitar in Soda & His Million Piece Band, a Los Angeles group whose music was featured in the film Waitress in 2007.
Since early 2002, Chait has exclusively played his modified 1954 Harmony Stratotones and other short scale vintage guitars as well as his 1965 Ampeg Reverb-o-Rocket and a vast assortment of vintage and custom pedals. He cites Marc Ribot, Sun Ra, Sonic Youth and Chet Atkins as his musical influences.
Chait is currently retired from the music industry and owns an art gallery in Downtown Los Angeles called "Untitled (Gallery)", featuring the works of Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, and other contemporary artists.
