Matt Barr (American football)

Matthew Barr (born September 12, 1987) is a former American football quarterback for the Western Illinois Leathernecks football team. He was the team captain in both 2009 and 2010. During the 2010 season, Barr threw for 3,410 yards 27 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 13 games. He also ran for 675 yards and 7 touchdowns. Following the season, Barr was named as one of the three finalists for the 2010 Walter Payton Award, given annually to the top player in NCAA Division I Football Championship Series (Division I-AA). He finished as the runner-up for the Payton Award and was named the offensive player of the year in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
Personal
Barr was born in Belvidere, Illinois and attended Belvidere High School. His major at Western Illinois is accounting.
