Matiss Kivlenieks is an ice-hockey goaltender currently playing for the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect, while under contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing Career Prizma Riga Starting in the 2011-2012 season, Kivlenieks only played one game with the Prizma Riga, with a GAA of 9.52 . He also played in the junior leagues, like the Latvia U18 and the U16 leagues. He stayed with the club until the end of the 2012-2013. International Play A lot of Kivlenieks' career, he's played in the International Junior Leagues. He played overall 22 games with them. Cleveland Monsters Starting in the 2017-2018, Kivlenieks' played in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters. In his first year, he did a .891 Sv%, in 2018-19, he did an .873 Sv%, and so far in Cleveland he has a .903 Sv%. Columbus Blue Jackets On May 25th of 2017, Kivlenieks signed a 3-year, entry level contract. He has played with the Cleveland Monsters for a good chunk of his career in Columbus. However, he has been called up twice so Elvis Merzlikins could go down and play for the Monsters.
