Martin Gernat

Martin Gernat (born April 11, 1993) is a Slovak professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing for the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. Gernat was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 5th round (122nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and he was also selected by Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the 1st round (19th overall) of the 2012 KHL Junior Draft.
As a member of Team Slovkia, Gernat competed at the 2011 IIHF World U18 Championships and the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
On April 20, 2013, the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL) signed Gernat to a three-year entry level contract. He started the 2013-14 season with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, but on November 1, 2013 he was sent down to play with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL
