Press and Reviews:
Masuran is the work of Chicago electronic musicians Justin Carter and Michael Snodgrass. When their powers combine, Masuran deliver pleasant, instrumental drone music with guitar often at the forefront. Some tracks such as "Answer the Why Question" and "Elephant Rocks" leak out of speakers like ambient fog. Others opt to use guitar buzz as foundation, lacing quiet and spare synth melodies to fill things out. Fans of Godspeed, Sigur Ros, and Mogwai's more sedate moments will probably enjoy spacing out to Masuran's laid-back debut." - Punk Planet
Dreamy, buzzy soundscapes loop and turn in on themselves, a slight bristle in the background gives these tracks a multi-dimensional quality, expanding above, below and all around you. While it carves itself into the silences, swallowing all ambient and ethereal stardust it can, this experimental headphone music is not without a destination- that which is up to the listener to discover. - CDBaby
ELEPHANT ROCKS is a sublime trip though electronic soundscape-land, short but very sweet, rich and luminous. Very much in the tradition of early Phillip Glass and Brian Eno, minimalist but never boring, and infused with a dense narrative that is alternately light and dark, angry and gentle, humorous and ponderous. “Brechtdown” is particularly notable, mixing lumbering orchestrals with whispery vocals. All in all an effervescent entry in the “music of the spheres” sweepstakes. - Tempter Magazine
