Massimo Gobbino is an Italian associate professor of mathematical analysis at the University of Pisa. Involvement in Mathematical Olympiads Massimo Gobbino is mainly known in Italy as the long-time trainer of the Italian team participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad. After taking part himself in the 1987 IMO, where he was awarded a bronze medal, since 1990 he has had a preponderant role (together with Roberto Dvornicich) in the selection and training process of the Italian mathletes. He has participated in many IMOs as the leader or deputy leader of the Italian team. He is the author of the book, Schede Olimpiche, ISBN 978-8870838053, a short compendium of many topics recurring in high-level mathematical problem solving competitions such as the IMO. |
